Adele

AdeleAdele Mara (April 28, 1923 until May 7, 2010) was an American actress, singer , and dancer in films during the 1940s and 1950s, and television in the 1950s, 1960s and later on. Adele St. Mara became her professional name and she was offered a contract from Columbia Pictures [citation needed[citation required]. She worked on comedy shorts as well as features for Columbia Pictures "B". It was then changed to Adele Mara. Mara was a receptionist in Three Stooges' film I Can Hardly Wait. Mara Brooks and Leslie Brooks portrayed the sisters in the character of Rita Hayworth in Fred Astaire's film You Were Never Lovelier. In Alias Boston Blackie (1942), she plays the leading female role, portraying the sister of an escapee and falsely condemned convict. She was transferred to Republic Pictures after her Columbia contract was removed. In Republic Pictures, she was a part of films based on westerns and outdoor adventures. The actress was featured in The Vampire's Ghost, Wake of the Red Witch which starred John Wayne, Angel in Exile (leading lady), Sands of Iwo Jima with John Wayne in which she played John Agar's love interest, California Passage (leading lady) and Don Siegel's Count the Hours (supporting role).
