Brugel, the only Canadian actor in Season 1, was only occasionally observed. In Season 2, she became a series regularly scheduled and has been a member of the show ever since. When discussing her character and its similarities to daily life, she could relate to racism and the mistreatment she has experienced in her other aspects of life. She said: "I lean heavily on race, and as I've mentioned earlier, I've encountered situations where I felt that I was treated as the slave because I am white." Though I've not experienced physical harm due to my skin colour but I did experience physical abuse. All racial insults or insults that felt like a hit, or even a painful blow to me, I could use in my show when a character uses words that are sharp and stinging.
